Overcoming Low Self-Esteem

overcoming low self esteem

What is Low Self-Esteem?

Do any of the following attributes accurately describe how you feel about yourself?

  • Uncertain
  • Troubled by self-doubt
  • Inadequate
  • Inferior

Do any of them describe you to a T? Are you overcritical about yourself, unable to believe you’re entitled to the good things in life? If so, these are signs that your self-esteem is low – and low self-esteem can be both painful and damaging.

We all have a general opinion of ourselves, of our value as people. Most people’s self-opinion is a realistic mixture of good and bad – we are aware of our weak points as well as our strong features. But when that opinion is entirely negative ("I am useless, worthless, no good to anybody"), then that is low self-esteem.
